Great new iPhone/iPad App
For moms, by a mom
I recently had the pleasure of meeting the developer of the new iPhone App, MommyCal. I had come to make contact with Kimberly for other business reasons and while talking with her discovered her newest endeavor. I was fortunate enough to get a coupon code for the App to try it for myself. In all honesty I am not a big App person. The ones most used on my phone are by my kids. But, after getting a quick run through by Kim I figured it was worth a look.
MommyCal is a user-friendly App that makes scheduling your day easy. Each member of the family can be assigned a color. I had my boys pick their own color. Trust me, the color wheel gives so many options you might find yourself spending more time than you think needed on this feature. Once you set up the members you start inputting the activities. There is an icon for virtually every activity you would need as a mom. Clicking the icon once and moving it into the correct day sets the schedule for a one time activity. If there is an activity that re-occurs, such as karate every Saturday, you simply hold the icon until the calendar pops up with options as to how to set the schedule; weekly, monthly, yearly. Once the icon is placed in the correct day you can assign it to a member of your family and the icon will be highlighted in their chosen color. This makes it easy for you to take a quick glance as to who has what on any given day. There are subject areas in the icon tabs for family/pet health, school, work, to do, family time, mommy time, sports, and more. You will be hard pressed to not find the icon you need. Another fun feature is setting the background for your calendar! Just an added option that allows you to customize this App.
As with anything new, there is room to change and grow. I know from my meeting that Kim is already working on updates. Although you can not yet sync multiple accounts to this App, for example your phone and your husband's, you can send an email reminder for an event.
MommyCal is clever, unique and easy to use. The icon feature allows you to visually see what your day will look like and to help keep all your family's activites organized in one spot.
Check out MommyCal's Facebook page for more information and visit iTunes to download it today. This App can be used on the iPhone and the iPad.
Have your say
