New Playground in Norfolk is a Huge Hit!

By A. Fisk, Macaroni Kid SW Boston Publisher/Editor June 6, 2014
Norfolk officially opened its darling, new "Kids Place" playground last weekend (aka Rockwood Road Community Park) which has replaced the young children's playground on Boardman Street.

It is full of younger-kid friendly activities, including a firetruck climber, a ladybug-shaped climber/playhouse, swings, "Norfolk DPW" tractor, and a really cool climber which features facades of notable Norfolk buildings, like its Grange Hall.  There is even a "Turtle Crossing" sign, just like the real one!  The playground features a cushioned, artificial turf groundcover which appeared to be very effective in minimizing the kiddos' boo-boos!

Rockwood Road's playground has some shaded seating in the center, but the rest of the area is in full sun, so plan ahead with lots of sunscreen, hats, and cool drinks.  There are also picnic tables for snacks, though they request that no food or drink is consumed in the actual (artificial turf) play zone.

The playground is located at:

49 Rockwood Road (Route 115), just down from the Town Center
Norfolk, MA
