Get outside, dig in, expand your senses, and foster your imagination at Farmer, Forester, Chef! summer day camp at historic Powisset Farm in Dover. Campers aged 6-11 become farmers on this scenic 109-acre working farm, chefs in The Trustees’ signature teaching kitchen, and foresters on the farm’s and neighboring Noanet Woodlands’ trails.
On the Farm
Each day, campers learn about where food comes from—both plants and livestock—by participating in activities as varied as composting, planting, harvesting, and preparing soil for crops. They get to know the most important members of the farm team—pigs, sheep, goats, and rabbits—by caring for the animals and learning about animal life on this working farm.
In the Kitchen
Because great farming translates into fantastic food, campers learn about healthy, farm-fresh ingredients while preparing delicious daily recipes in Powisset’s fully equipped teaching kitchen or outdoor kitchen. In addition to immediately indulging in their creations, campers bring recipes home to share with families.
In the Woods
Forester days focus on exploring the natural world. Campers visit Powisset’s nature trails—older campers may explore the neighboring Noanet Woodlands—where they hike the hills and trails to discover the wonders of woodland flora and fauna.
Farmer, Forester, Chef! is built for campers who love the outdoors, caring for farm animals, cooking in the kitchen, getting their hands dirty, and using their imagination. The Trustees’ talented, compassionate, and energetic educators support campers in their quest to connect to the natural world and find their place within it.
